1. Keep to the assigned canvas size of the original character. For example, do not make a Mario skin mod using a Cyberdemon-sized sprite sheet. It will not work.
2. You may base your character on Mario, Luigi, Sonic and Tails (the current playable roster). Use your best discretion for choosing a character to mod into (e.g. Cheese for replacing Tails for flight), Shadow replacing Sonic, etc. Waluigi replacing Luigi.
3. The Folder numbers in the "external/players" folder are as follows:
1 = Mario
2 = Luigi
3 = Sonic
4 = Tails
4. You can post your mods as either a spritesheet as found in the external/players folder, a video showing your skin mod in action, or both. If you can put your skin mod online for others to download, it will be a great idea as well.
STARSIMSUNIVERSE'S FRIENDLY "CHARACTER SKIN MOD TUTORIAL"
Here is an example and some templates to help you get started on making some Custom External Sprites for your chosen player. This is what you'd do if you wanted to base your original character on Mario, and therefore have all his same abilities and gameplay mechanics.
Mario is in the "external/players" folder. Under Folder entitled "1".
Mario is split into multiple folders. With the following:
A = Super Mario
B = Fire Mario
C = Hammer Mario
D = Racoon Mario
E = Mini Mario
F = Spartan Mario
G = Tanooki Mario
H = Mega Man Mario
Y = Coin, Jump, Skid sounds (N/A)
Z = Mario's Power Up Skins (Optional)
Don't attempt to alter the size of these or there'll be glitches and DON'T OVERWRITE THE ORIGINAL BMPS or you won't get Mario back. When using a Skid Mod, always make a backup of the original player sprites.
Here are Folder A's sprite canvas. (Super Mario) Like the rest of the folders, besure to save them with the right filename and as .bmps.
