Full Version: Tails/Sonic Halo power up Instead of forcefields
I know you said guys said Tails/Sonic halo power up would be a force field, but would it make more sense if Tails halo Power up would be a Halo Drone because both of them can fly and Sonic a Spartan.

I definitely say those suits would look awesome.

The dev team said no more spartans. Would Sonic fit more with something like the Flood? Flood Sonic. Heh.
It was already agreed that Sonic and Tails will get shields and throwing fan art at us will not change this fact.
Besides, due to balance issues, even if it was accepted they would only get new skins for their Spartan power-up ; it is final that all they get from the Spartan power-up is the force field effect.

Well, I at least think they need new costumes.
...I mean, it seems like a big rip-off for everybody else to get a Spartan suit except for them. They have a Mega Man suit, why not a Spartan suit?
It's fine if those are the only abilities they get, but even if it really isn't important, they should get new costumes. Seems a bit lazy for them not to, anyway.

Before you do...
I gotta say, I like the idea of a Skin to go with the barrier.
That is something I'd like to see... Tails with a Drone Suit,
And Sonic with a... a... (Jackal Suit? Grunt Suit? I'm drawing a blank on the actual suit design)
I don't mind if he doesn't get a weapon or projectile to go with it.
For Balance issues, go ahead and blast that idea.
I just want to see the suit look like a REAL crossover powerup.
It IS a crossover power-up... It could at least LOOK like one.
I think they have to many sheild and an actual halo suit for them would be nice, im not saying to chance what it does but how many sheild powerups do sonic and tails use again, woudlnt it be nice for sonic to have another suit besides megaman suit?
I support the idea of having a suit for cosmetic purposes... but we would have to do it ourselves. NO Body and all the spriters are tied down with homework---I mean MKF. Besides, it's just an edit of Sonic and Tails. No additional poses or anything (other than the melee one they're gonna throw in now). How hard can it be?

Continue, but Darken the Visor and 'Eye Shield Thing'.
It's Too Bright.
Also, there's no part that separates Sonic's Helmet from his Body.
Overall a good job, though.

It looks ok. It's just... Can't we make Sonic something else Halo-related other than Master chief as a cosmetic replacement? Mario, Luigi, and Arthur (and I think Kirby, not sure) are already Master-Chief related with their Halo powerups. I think he'd fit better as a hunter, even if Roll might have that as a Halo powerup as well. Hunters are blue and have what looks like spikey hair.

Even they said no, I think we should make a skin for there spartan suits just for cosmetical reasons. How about everybody is helping like with Dry Bowser? Remember: Poppants started working on him and many people helped him and now he is looking fantastic right now.

If you will be giving Sonic and Tails Halo costumes, make it be something other than Master Chief and Spartan suits.

i like the idea of a flood infested sonic
Sonic = Blue Elite or hunter
Tails = UNSC Pilot(like foe-hammer) or Covenant Drone.. or even a Jetpacking Elite.
Roll = Hunter(As Currently Planned) or Cortana

I've already given my opinion. I'm fine with the idea of Drone Tails, but I'd like to see Sonic as something related to the Flood.

That's basically what we were thinking.
Also, I'm not really seeing Flood Sonic working out too well. It'd be kinda hard to work the force field in there. I can kinda see it working if he retains the visible shield and it flashes spastically, or something of that nature, but I dunno.
If we do find some way of it working, a couple suggestions:
~The power up sprite could be a miniaturized Infection form
~When he's hit, a kickable infection form could pop out of him, except with blue speckles.
~He could carry stuff with one hand
~He could have animated tentacles sticking out of his chest
It's not really a 'rip-off' for Sonic & Tails not to have a Halo costume when using the Halo power-up. Keep in mind all of Sonic & Tails' power-ups have been pretty much shields, and it worked before.
Besides, I can't really envision anyone from Halo that the two could dress up as in the power-up.

So it would be cool and give a relief to all those sheilds besides Quickman Sonic
I would like to try my hands on them, but I need Sonics sprite sheet (his old one and his new one) and Tails sprite sheet.

Yeah I know, but I am not gonna open each folder and put each sprite together to a sheet (sorry too lazy^^) and for the newer ones I've no idea where, so I ask you people to find them, otherwhise I can't try to sprite them..

OK... this is an update.
I and Judgespear have spoken and we have agreed that the shields are staying.
The reasons are as such:
Sonic & Tails's Halo power-up was never a true Halo power-up to begin with. Namely, it is the Magnetic Shield, a stapple of the Sonic serie post Sonic 2.
It has the same electric arc effect as in Sonic Advance and even have the ring attraction effect. The only real edit is that it's yellow rather than blue and have the Halo force field effect added in.
Due to this, replacing it with a Halo suit or Flood suit wouldn't work.
Furthermore, the main draw of the Halo suits, excluding the force field effect, is the melee weapons that come with them. Sonic and Tails already have advanced melee combat abilities due to their spin attack and spin dash, making the addition of a permanent weapon useless.
So, we're not replacing the Magnetic Shield with Halo or Flood suits.
Doesn't mean that Judgespear was lying when he said we were considering reskinning though ; the Magnetic Shield is the wrong color and could be improved graphically (like most other shields) after all.
I hope this will help clear out the issue.

We didn't want that in the first place. We just wanted cosmetic changes.

The sheild could be improved more to look like the Halo 3 Bubble Sheild.

When was this agreed on? I remember JudgeSpear saying the Sonic and Tails powerups were reopened with the Halo world expanding to include other franchises.

yes- put this option in well... the options menu. if you can turn off your life meter which does effect gameplay how about the ability to turn shield animation (that is not skinable) on or off for those who may have skined sonic or tails. Personally see shield on every powerup even if it was in their games is as tiring as seeing the master chief customs for every member.
also i loved the idea of drone tails- just in case you were wondering...which of course you were not.

Well... I did not have time to pay attention to what I was posting... I just posted some links and when I realized they didn't work, I just used one gif attachment...
I have many Sonic sprites... I have even created a few sprites for characters like Fang and Knuspio (fusion betwen Knuckles and Espio)., altought the last one wasn't aproved... It wasn't finished to, but it is good enough already...
You can easly make Halo suits for Sonic and Tails, but thats what I think... I never done it before, so...
What I have realized... Sonic and Tails do not use any weapon with Halo suit, so, the "bubble" power shield is the best thing they could get...
( by the way... I think the only problem Sonic and Tails have, is the fact that they are not the sprites from Sonic 3 - never knew why )

What about giving Tails a Half-Life Hazard Suit, with a gravity gun whose effect is limited to doing item pickups (ie. shells or ice blocks) at range, utilized with the fire button? It fits his character as the "smart guy", and while it has an offensive use it's quite limited. To differentiate it from the Halo powerups it could be given a permanent HP count instead of regenerating after a length of time.
Even without the added power, it'd still be a nice cosmetic look.

Hello... it's bad idea! Sonic and Tails will have electric shields and Fusion Team (I think) don't change mind about that, and IT'S FINAL! 
P.S. All characters will have Halo Suit, except Sonic and Tails (I'm not sure about Kirby and Samus)
