This is the first I read about a Golden Axe level...any more info? Golden Axe was always one of my favorite series as a kid.

Thinking about it though, although Golden Axe can definetly carry its own stage, it might be fun to have a "Sega fantasy games" stage with Golden Axe as its main focus, so that games like Phantasy Star, Shining Force, and Crusader of Centy can get some love.
mr3urious
Don't forget about Phantasy Star!
Ultimate Gamer
Hows Space Colony ARK going to be planned out? And maybe my Westopolis Dash level could get in somewhere, possibily either World 7 or World 2?
mr3urious
And what happened to the Think Jungle Zone?
KoS3ds01
Hey Ben, I made a TJ&E level idea, called "Funkotron". I have the level idea in my sig. Let me know if you think its good enough for 7-S13.

Yeah, I mentioned Phantasty Star in my post, with Final Fantasy getting so much rep, it'ld think Phantasy Star would get more love. If a new Sega Level was going to be made though, I'ld rather have it represent more Sega RPGs (Shining Force especially.)
mr3urious
Hey, Ben, when you said Sky Battery Zone is a comaination of the Sky Fortress and Flying Battery Zone, don't you mean "Wing Fortress"? Or were you also including the Sky Chase Zone, too?

Maybe there could be a level that represents several different Sega RPGs.

Bloodgrey: Oh yeah. Sorry 'bout that. biggrin.gif

I could see a SHUMPS section before Sky Battery.

Forgot about Thick Jungle Zone. Will add it in.

I hope my Shadow level can get in somehow....

Space Colony ARK should be accessed through a secret exit in Launch Base Zone.

If Ice Cap Zone can get in, I think Lava Reef Zone should get in, too.
EvilMariobot
I'd love to see my Sky Chase shmups level idea, which combines elements from the Sonic 2 and Sonic Adventure versions, as a lead-in to Egg Fleet.

I'm going to throw these two ideas out: House of the Dead GH and a Ristar level.

Wasn't there going to be a Vectorman level? I might be mistaken on that though.

Can I suggest this Pulseman level as a secret level? smile.gif

Aw. And I was hoping I could eventually get in the Lava Powerhouse level I had planned.
Ben66
Blarg. Forgot two of my levels. The Mean Bean Machine level and the Sonic Spinball level. (@Lars: I had previously suggested a Sonic Spinball level that combined all four areas).
Clark
I could never beat Sonic Spinball, mainly because the 2nd area was so annoying...

I hope you keep only a fraction of that annoyingness in the level. How will the Pins work, anyway?
mr3urious
My suggestion for Lava Reef:

Slit_Zurifa
I personally would like to see Lava Reef in World 7 too since there's Ice Cap Zone as well and I really loved Lava Reef. smile.gif

One question out of interest: Why did you count the stages like Angel Island Zone, Sandopolis Zone and Chaos Hill Zone (or whatever it was called) as secret stages. In my oppinon those stages which base on real Sonic 2D stages should be regular stages. Because they base on real Sonic stages as I said and also because there should be more regular stages than secret stages. wink.gif AIZ, SZ, CHZ and Lava Reef Zone being changed as regular stages would make a total amount of 18 regular stages which is similiar to Mega Man world (world 3) and 11 secret stages.

But that's just my personal oppinion.
Ansem
Chaos Angel confirmed?!

lol, back from inactivity again.

Since I have a laptop, I'll be able to run this stuff without any lag. Which means I'll actually be able to finish things I said I was going to do! Yay. happy.gif

I myself have a suggestion for City Escape- Alex Kidd missing persons posters. A bit of dark humour concerning SEGA's first mascot's abject dissepearence following the demise of the Master System. If you want to go all out, you could have it say "Last seen in Shinobi Land"
mr3urious
Launch Base/Egg Rocket sounds rather clunky, so I suggest that it should be called Cape Robotnik Zone. I already made the change in the Wiki, if you don't mind.
Ben66
The actual level will be called Launch Base Zone. I just put it as "Launch Base/Egg Rocket" so people would know that it also incorporates Egg Rocket Zone into the level.

I see now. Well, I still think Cape Robotnik sounds cool, and it was the only other name besides "Launch Rocket", "Egg Base", or "Egg Rocket Base". biggrin.gif

If someone hasn't already started designing the Altered Beast/Golden Axe fusion level, I can make some sketches for layouts. Since they're both basically beat-em-ups, I can try putting an emphasis on fighting a bunch of tougher enemies placed throughout each relatively simple section.

Also, if you want me to try sketching layouts for other levels, please let me know.

For Robotnikland, though, I think that this would be a very amusing soundtrack. wink.gif

Second one is Win! biggrin.gif

Remix of that (for loop) would be good in some of the more "silly" Robotnik encounters! or at least for henchmen! biggrin.gif
WhiteRoseBrian
How about one of these for whenever you fight Robotnik?

Mini-Yoshi
They can't use anything from modern games 08 and up. Others are fine.
Lars Luron
I really like that orchestral Sonic 3 boss music. I think that would work really well.
Jacob175
Say, wasn't there supposed to be a level modeled after the Sky Deck from Sonic Adventure? Did that get replaced by the Sky Battery Zone?
Slit_Zurifa
No it is still a secret stage. Sky Deck is a regular stage.
Hopalongtom
My Favs Robotnik Remixs are:

or

The second song could start with a video of the last boss in Sonic 3 & K up till the real music kicks in where Robotnik smashes though the screen in a similar but more hardcore mech! biggrin.gif
mr3urious
I think this one would be better suited because it combines the boss themes from Sonics 1, 2, 3, and Knuckles. That way, we wouldn't have to choose just one.

Ahaha! That's exactly what I was thinking, Mr3ursious! That's perfect! Now we just gotta see what the devs think of it.
WhiteRoseBrian
Mushroom Kingdom Fusion's Eggman is based strictly on the version in the games, isn't he? I ask because I thought of this high-quality drawing. Do you suppose he could take on this appearance?

http://marama-tsg.deviantart.com/art/Dr-Ju...otnik-106662730

Ben66
He's based strictly on the games only, although the Robotnikland stage will have ststues of his various appearances.
WhiteRoseBrian
I can sprite those statues if you want.
The Qu
We found a treasure trove of custom Sonic sprites a while back, and it had most of the ones we would need, so I don't think that would be necessary. However, I could be wrong.
WhiteRoseBrian
Let's see what other tracks we could consider using for battles against Robotnik.

mr3urious
Here's my choices:

Mini Boss

Stage Boss
http://www.redwingsmusic.com/?p=22

Final Boss

Of course, I'd edit some of them, like the beginning part of the final boss theme.

WhiteRoseBrian
Within the thread on the master source, someone brought up Scratch and Grounder as bosses for a level.

I found some sprites.

http://spriters-resource.com/custom_edited/sonic/sheet/18233
The Qu
Ooh, I like those sprites. Not sure if we could use them (Can't see a way to make a fight with those), but they look nice. They even have defeated poses!
WhiteRoseBrian
Ben asked me to sketch layouts for the Ice Cap Zone. Using sheets from the Spriters' Resource for a reference, I sat down at the drafting table and sketched on larger papers made for drawing mangas. I was concerned that posting the actual images in here would stretch the page too much, so I posted links here instead.

Slit_Zurifa
Hmm, actually I don't like that sketch that much to be hinest. I absolutely dislike the fact that there are so many non-Sonic based enemies (like Yetis) or the plants in part II. I would suggest to include more Sonic elements and make the stage actually look more difficult.

Sorry for the criticism. sad.gif
WhiteRoseBrian
I appreciate the honesty and candor. I can try to explain myself.

I didn't know enough about the robotic enemies in the Sonic games (I never actually owned any of Sega's consoles) to add them to the sketch. Only later did I think of adding those Clucks from Spinball. I tried adding the hills and slopes seen on the sheets for the Ice Cap and Ice Mountain Zones. As for the plants, I wanted some other means besides springboards for the player to climb upwards in the inside of the mountains? What about the Yetis, you ask? I just think that they could fit into snowy levels and they already have sprites posted on the Spriters' Resource.

Oh, and Ben asked that I omit the loops. He also expressed satisfaction. He can also change the layout as needed.
T-Time2010
I'm gonna go with Slit on this one.

The sketch looks more Mario than anything.

Study the level layouts of Sonic games before retrying the sketch.
legoman727
... Wait. No loops. In ICE CAP?

One of the notable things about that stage was the multiple loops that ya had to hit at high speed spindash to bust through the ice..

Slit_Zurifa
Yep, nevertheless they will be programmed and should be put in stages already.
WhiteRoseBrian
I sketched the new layouts for the first two rooms. As for the third, Ben can simply stretch out the slopes.

pyromaniac78
That looks great Brian. The addition of those Ice Cap Zone gimmicks from the original game definitely gives it stronger assertion as a sonic level, and it also maintains a nice, original layout. Keep up the good work.
Slit_Zurifa
Yep, that design is much better than the previous one. Maybe the person who's going to make this stage (Ben I think) might add some loopings for the first part as well. wink.gif
WhiteRoseBrian
How about these tracks for the Golden Axe/Altered Beast level?

You may want to remove the first section with the vocals.

This arrangement comes from the Sega Ages version of the first Golden Axe. The graphics may be crude, but that music still sounds nice. You can try any of the tracks from that version of Golden Axe.

This could also work.

Now I also searched tracks that we can probably use for Tides of Terror.

mr3urious
I'd suggest using Ecco songs from the Sega Genesis versions, as those are probably more well-known.

They made an appearance in the game Dr. Robotnik's Mean Bean Machine.

Their models (in AoSTH) were based off robots from Sonic2. (Grounder=Drill Thing from Aquatic Ruins, Scratch=Chicken from Wing Fortress, Coconuts=monkey from Emerald Hill)

I don't know if that would verify or not though.

Sunset Park will be incorporated into Havoc Canyon Zone
Slit_Zurifa
Hmm, what's happening with tails' Marble Zone, now that there's a Marble Bridge Zone? Will you use some parts of tails' stage? Will Act 1 be based on Bridge Zone and Act 2 on Merble Zone?

Also, what happened to Lava Reef Zone? Was it renamed to Magma Mine Zone? Which other stages should be used for MMZ?
Ben66
Marble Bridge Zone has been decided to be a cross between Bridge Zone and Marble/Marble Garden Zone. Likewise, Angel Island Zone has been merged into Thick Jungle Zone. Simply cutting down on some stages by fusing their concepts together. Marble Bridge will sort of represent the "second stages" of the Sonic series.

Magma Mine is the result of altering Lava Reef to be a general representation of lava and mine-based levels in the Sonic series.
