I'm not sure if this is reliable, but Kidd may see something in the future. |
Some missing poster sprites sound easy enough.
Here's one for ya!

Ahaha! That's exactly what I was thinking, Mr3ursious! That's perfect! Now we just gotta see what the devs think of it.

Mushroom Kingdom Fusion's Eggman is based strictly on the version in the games, isn't he? I ask because I thought of this high-quality drawing. Do you suppose he could take on this appearance?

He's based strictly on the games only, although the Robotnikland stage will have ststues of his various appearances.

We found a treasure trove of custom Sonic sprites a while back, and it had most of the ones we would need, so I don't think that would be necessary. However, I could be wrong.

Let's see what other tracks we could consider using for battles against Robotnik.

Here's my choices:
Mini Boss
Stage Boss

Of course, I'd edit some of them, like the beginning part of the final boss theme.

Within the thread on the master source, someone brought up Scratch and Grounder as bosses for a level.
I found some sprites.

Ooh, I like those sprites. Not sure if we could use them (Can't see a way to make a fight with those), but they look nice. They even have defeated poses!

Ben asked me to sketch layouts for the Ice Cap Zone. Using sheets from the Spriters' Resource for a reference, I sat down at the drafting table and sketched on larger papers made for drawing mangas. I was concerned that posting the actual images in here would stretch the page too much, so I posted links here instead.

Hmm, actually I don't like that sketch that much to be hinest. I absolutely dislike the fact that there are so many non-Sonic based enemies (like Yetis) or the plants in part II. I would suggest to include more Sonic elements and make the stage actually look more difficult.
Sorry for the criticism.

I appreciate the honesty and candor. I can try to explain myself.
I didn't know enough about the robotic enemies in the Sonic games (I never actually owned any of Sega's consoles) to add them to the sketch. Only later did I think of adding those Clucks from Spinball. I tried adding the hills and slopes seen on the sheets for the Ice Cap and Ice Mountain Zones. As for the plants, I wanted some other means besides springboards for the player to climb upwards in the inside of the mountains? What about the Yetis, you ask? I just think that they could fit into snowy levels and they already have sprites posted on the Spriters' Resource.
Oh, and Ben asked that I omit the loops. He also expressed satisfaction. He can also change the layout as needed.

I'm gonna go with Slit on this one.
The sketch looks more Mario than anything.
Study the level layouts of Sonic games before retrying the sketch.

... Wait. No loops. In ICE CAP?
One of the notable things about that stage was the multiple loops that ya had to hit at high speed spindash to bust through the ice..

Yep, nevertheless they will be programmed and should be put in stages already.

I sketched the new layouts for the first two rooms. As for the third, Ben can simply stretch out the slopes.

That looks great Brian. The addition of those Ice Cap Zone gimmicks from the original game definitely gives it stronger assertion as a sonic level, and it also maintains a nice, original layout. Keep up the good work.
Slit_Zurifa
14th July 2009 - 01:58 PM
Yep, that design is much better than the previous one. Maybe the person who's going to make this stage (Ben I think) might add some loopings for the first part as well.

How about these tracks for the Golden Axe/Altered Beast level?
You may want to remove the first section with the vocals.
This arrangement comes from the Sega Ages version of the first Golden Axe. The graphics may be crude, but that music still sounds nice. You can try any of the tracks from that version of Golden Axe.
This could also work.
Now I also searched tracks that we can probably use for Tides of Terror.

Question. Didn't Scratch and Grounder first come from AoStH, anyways, making them ineligible for MKF?

They made an appearance in the game Dr. Robotnik's Mean Bean Machine.
Their models (in AoSTH) were based off robots from Sonic2. (Grounder=Drill Thing from Aquatic Ruins, Scratch=Chicken from Wing Fortress, Coconuts=monkey from Emerald Hill)
I don't know if that would verify or not though.

Hmm, what's happening with tails' Marble Zone, now that there's a Marble Bridge Zone? Will you use some parts of tails' stage? Will Act 1 be based on Bridge Zone and Act 2 on Merble Zone?
Also, what happened to Lava Reef Zone? Was it renamed to Magma Mine Zone? Which other stages should be used for MMZ?
Ben66
26th October 2009 - 06:24 AM
Marble Bridge Zone has been decided to be a cross between Bridge Zone and Marble/Marble Garden Zone. Likewise, Angel Island Zone has been merged into Thick Jungle Zone. Simply cutting down on some stages by fusing their concepts together. Marble Bridge will sort of represent the "second stages" of the Sonic series.
Magma Mine is the result of altering Lava Reef to be a general representation of lava and mine-based levels in the Sonic series.
