---REACTOS---

Alternate for wine if you don't have an
intel based processor.

QUOTE (http://www.reactos.org/en/about.html)
What is ReactOS?
ReactOS is a free and open-source operating system based on the Windows NT architecture design, providing support for existing applications and drivers and an alternative to the current dominant consumer and server operating systems.

Why re-implement NT?
First of all, the 'Windows' the general public knows is actually just one part of the modern Windows NT operating system. They usually mean the Win32 subsystem, a layer that sits upon the NT kernel, providing the user and application interface.

"NT is still around, known as XP and Vista"

Most people think of 'NT' as 'WinNT 4', while in reality the term NT is equal to the NT series, which ranges from version 3 over NT5 (2000, XP, 2003) to NT6 (Vista).
The NT architecture was designed by a team lead by David Cutler, a former lead developer of VMS. It took them more than 4 years to combine the best of UNIX, VMS and OS/2 and create the NT architecture.
the ReactOS project reimplements a state-of-the-art and open NT alike operating system based on the NT architecture-design. It comes of course with a WIN32 subsystem, NT driver compatibility and a handful of useful applications and tools.

ReactOS combines the power and strengths of the NT kernel - which is well known for its extensibility, portability, reliability, robustness, performance and compatibility – with Win32 compatibility.

This one is natively spanish.
You're on your own for the most part.
I'll assist where I can.

Is it for intel only? If not, <3.

WINE is intel only,I did however,
Post alternatives.

I'll sticky this. Thanks for finding this, Das.

If I knew Wine would work, especially with MKF, I would have posted it already.
But I didn't, so... take a guess.
...
Yep, that's right, it doesn't work for MKF. It might run Game Maker decently, but Game Maker games... not really. It will most likely crash or suck at graphical rendering, perhaps even fail to play sound as well. But hey, the guys at Wine are doing their best right now, it's a pretty tough thing to do.
And before you ask, "how do you know it doesn't work?"... well, that's easy. I have Ubuntu with the latest Wine development version, and I ran MKF (and also Iji, another awesome Game Maker game) through Wine. Result? Black screen at main menu, though I hear sound. I had much more success with Iji, however. I was able to run the game almost perfectly (well at least the menu, I never got to play it), though no sound was playing.

Well, there's also the option to use Windows DLLs for better compatibility (or so they say), but I haven't tried it yet. If anyone else has better luck, do tell. It would be great to know that MKF works!

As for ReactOS, I hear it seems to be getting better and better with every release; they have quite a few programs working already. However I have only seen a few games work with it, such as Unreal Tournament, Deus Ex and OpenTTD.

Yeah turbo, There's a lot of compatibility
issues with this sort of thing.

The point here,at least for me,Is to provide
a free alternative to the proven expensive method
of OS emulation.

Basicly,I want to lay the grounds for mac/ubuntu
users to experience mkf.

None of these are anywhere near perfection,
But it's a giant step forward for alternate OS users
who have been plauged by Yoyo's
"Windows Only" blunder.

They are working on Gmac supposedly, though.

Indeed. Since gaming is so important to me, I must stick with Windows so I can enjoy all the games I want, so I must have maximum compatibility. But I get along fine with it. What bothers me the most is virus and spyware, etc. And Vista's memory hogging. Otherwise I'm fine with Windows.

And yes, Game Maker for Mac is being worked on, it's in its beta stages for quite some time. I've already seen a video of an example game being played in a Macintosh already. Perhaps this might bring Linux compatibility as well. After all, I heard about a GM C++ somewhere... and of course, there's ENIGMA, but their progress is really slow unfortunately.
