How ironic you'd say that, considering you're the creator of Agent M...
On-topic: This looks pretty awesome. If you do make this project, JudgeSpear, I hope they'll be a demo. |
Well, in a way it's ironic (me, the creator of an OC for this game complaining about other OCs), but the problem with the presention of these characters is that they are generally higher-tier in some projects (it's kinda like in Mugen where people create "cheapies" that are modified characters with overused attacks that have a lot of randoms prites involved) and they lack true backstories. Also, another problem I have with some of the games is the requirements for unlocking characters: in some cases, all you need to do is have the game running.
I think that there might be a demo released, but I don't know the official name of this Game Maker project. Still, it's one worth checking out (the animations are just as close to the original SSB as possible and the 3D rendering is spot-on).
I feel the same, JD. Mugen is okay Peter vs. Homer, Mario vs. Sonic., create your characters are okay to an extent. SSF si intolorable though. It shouldnt' be Super Smash, just Ultimate Battle or something. If it's under the SuperSmash Title, it needs to be a SuperSmash game all the way

If a Super Smash-style engine will contain characters from different universes and end up like MUGEN, then I agree. The game should not carry the "Super Smash" name. I'd call it something generic like "Arena Infinity" as a subtle reference to both MUGEN and the kind of game SSB is (arena fighter).

Impressive. Even more impressive than impressive. Like Obreck said, nice usage of 3D. Now if JS does go on with his Smash Bros. like engine, he can beat both of the Super Smash Flashes combined!

It shouldn't be ALL Nintendo; Brawl broke the rule, and thus created some awesome characters. There are plenty of characters featured on Nintendo consoles (Only VG ones, of course) that would be awesome. (IE: Mega Man VS Sonic VS Simon Belmont VS A Battletoad.)

True, Brawl broke the rule, but it used moderation. If you do add non Nintendo characters, you should only have up to three, including Snake and Sonic.
In my opinion, the creator should try to include the entire Brawl cast, plus Dr. Mario, Young Link, Mewtwo, Pichu, and Roy in this game before adding new characters.

One more cool thing about the movie JS posted: Its BGM syncs perfectly with his avatar!

I'd say it should keep the word "Smash" if it has that mechanic, but remove references to Mario titles. Meanwhile, I personally don't know if I agree with everybody's Nintendo-only sentiment, and here's why: If somebody works hard on an SSB fangame, and decides to only include Nintendo characters in it, he runs the risk of his game ending up too similar to an SSB game Nintendo themselves will release.
I'm not saying I like all the crummy SSB fangames with no rules about characters, but my dislike is less based on the characters themselves and more based on the fact that the developers think virtue of crossover alone is enough to make them good, and thus slack off on everything else. I also dislike how characters often look awful due to sprite clashing/resizing, and how they often play awful due to lack of sprites and creator laziness with regard to making more. However, in theory I support the concept of a good fan-made crossover SSB game. Of course, there are other options. People could make a game that's all Nintendo characters, but ones that wouldn't likely get into a real SSB game, as may be partially the case in Fisticuffs, or they could have it set exclusively in a universe besides Nintendo.

Well, it's pretty cool, I'll say that, but I lose intrest in games that haven't been updated in years.
I'd say it's almost as good as SSBR!
